Inkscape: Another open-source triumpf

Once again, free and open-source software impresses. Now, of course I shouldn’t be impressed, given that my whole operating system is free and open-source, but I still am.

Lately, I’ve been messing around with Inkscape, vectorising some raster images. And I must say, while I know I am only using the most basic functions of the software, I realise that this program is quite the beast. It has lots and lots of functions, and does pretty much all that you would expect from a professional vector program, as far as I’ve seen.

Given the cross-platform nature of the software, I can wholeheartedly recommend Inkscape for anyone who wants to create or edit vector images. I have nothing but positive experiences with it. Why don’t you go try it out? It’s free after all!

A screenshot of me vectorising my dad's Audi A6 is available here.

I'll be gone, starting today and ending on Sunday. I'll be on our cottage, and will have no Internet D: I'll bring my camera and stuff, but I don't think there'll be too much to photograph out there. And I ain't got my bike to get around to different photo areas there.

Back from Sweden

And that was a goddamned nice vacation. Every afternoon, shopping in town, and every evening, poker gaming (I served as dealer; no gaming for me). In addition, we drove gokarts, went bathing, and stuff.

...Sweden is cheap. Bloody cheap. I'm talking £0.8 for 1hg of loose weight assorted goodies. £1.5 for 1l of 0.7% apple cider. (Yes, we managed to buy several bottles of that despite being three years too young. We just went in, fetched them, paid, and went out. No questions asked, no ID required).

Now to finish off that poem I've been writing.. It's nothing big, but it's a poem afterall. And if I don't finish it off, it'll haunt me till no end, 'cause I just need to get that written. If I don't do today, I'll have to do some other time, one day.

Just checkin' in to say that I will be gone from tomorrow 1600 till Monday. If I do not respond to your messages/journals/whatever, that's the reason.

If you wonder, I'll be going to Sweden with the whole of my school class. I won't be bringing the 450D, sadly, because of the risks etc. I'll bring my little Lumix FX3 tho'.

I came to remember seeing this quite some time ago.. And since I'm bored and lack inspiration, I'll just put this here so that I've got some kind of goal to work towards. Nothing major, and I probably won't ever finish, but heck, whatever.

My tools will be those that I find available, including (but not limited to) my Canon EOS 450D, Gimp, my Wacom Bamboo, pen and paper, and eventual other stuff I try out at any point. Who knows where this is going.

No idea where this originated, so I won't bother sourcing anyone's journal; it's found all over.
